The TigerNet article has Chris Williams at 1B (as he continues to recover), Seth Beer in RF (home sweet home), Jordan Greene at 2B and Grayson Byrd at 3B - in other words, right back where we ended last year.

I'm OK with that...assuming Byrd gets an RBI or two and Greene gets on base on occasion...they're both decent defensively...also like that Wilkie will be in lineup (provided he hits like May/June and not February/March)....I was worried about Beer defensively at first...Cox, for whatever his faults were, was fantastic defensively....5 errors in 553 chances and saved his teammates many more.....

If you read TCIs infield preview back on Jan 24th, today's article was a bit of a surprise.

Don't get me wrong, the preview article contradicted the bulk of the plan laid forth during last year's end of season press conference, and today's news (that the Beer experiment at 1B is over, Williams will start at 1B, and the 3B battle was essentially down to Cromwell and Byrd) reverted to that line of thinking.

One of these days, I'll learn...

Yep, I was surprised by a few things, but not Beer...just don't think he's a fit at first...thats a crucial defensive position, more-so in college with the inconsistent throws...and if Wilkie hits like he did at end of season then Williams at first makes sense...another weird thing is the Wharton talk...he could play center, he could play left (or maybe he won't play at all like last year)...I think he has talent, but tough to show it when you get 3 ABs a month...smacks of past talk of great falls, but never see them during season...

I think you will see Teodosio start in CF the majority of the time, with Jolly in LF. I think Wharton will be a late game defensive replacement. He just swings and misses way too much.

Not disagreeing on Wharton (and haven't seen practice), but the guy only had 48 plate appearances, so the sample size is tiny.  In addition, some slated to start or in competition to be in starting lineup have similar or even higher strikeout rates...

The only person on this team that swings and misses more than Wharton is Hawkins.

I really know very little about baseball...or our team in general outside of the "big names"...but I am really excited to see what this season brings. Something inside of me feels like this could be a special season.
